THE SETTING

(English version)
Video Material for Performance
From the collaboration of Andrzej Wirth and Thomas Martius, two video essays have emerged: LAS VENICE (Venice and Las Vegas, 2000-2004) and WILSON'S ISLAND (New York, 2008).

In many places, the ca. 90-minute works were installed for site-specific performance situations. Excerpts from the DVD used in the performances have been placed without re-editing on YouTube. The LASVENICE site provides additional images and texts from these past performance contexts.

Internet use of LAS VENICE and WILSON'S ISLAND is therefore limited. Without any accompanying commentary, the works are somewhat obscure and difficult to understand (acoustically, as well). Particularly as the video material was only the basis for a live-act, an event which Martius and Wirth, interacting as moderators and commentators, constantly shortened  or amended, in specially designed spaces, motivated by the audience or whim. This liveliness is missing from the website. Nevertheless, one gets the idea. You can bet on it. And on the Slotty Machine, too. For free. Enjoy!

Ohne Bezahlung. Gute Unterhaltung!
